Black Angus calf named Baby -- a quick character sketch done this morning for a picture book I'm working on for Boyds Mills Press.

Hey Maurie, So thrilled to find your blog! I love your work! I also use Painter and a Wacom for my illustration work. And I know what you mean about feeling it is somehow "less" than traditional work. I like to compare it to other tools. Like building a house with power tools instead of only hand tools. Wow. This is beautiful work. I'll have to give it another try (drawing directly with the Wacom tablet.) I've been doing most of my sketching outdoors lately, though -- THAT might be a problem.
